What is Global Wellness Day?

Photo: globalwellnessday.org

Have you ever thought about it… there are more than 7 billion people on the earth.

But there is only one dream shared across dozens of cultures: living well. All of us would like be healthier, to look better, and to live in physically and mentally good conditions.

So if this is the situation, why don’t we have a world-wide day dedicated to “Wellness”? We’ve honored almost everything which is valuable to us with a special day, so why isn’t there a global day to honor the universally accepted importance of good living?

As Richmond Nua, we wanted to fill this void with an important philosophy. It was with these thoughts that “Wellness Day” was born, and introduced to you two years ago.

This was the first step we took towards good living, and now we want to move beyond this. Our dream is to create a special day that will be celebrated worldwide. So far, over 5,000 people have shared this dream with us, and supported Wellness Day. Now it’s your turn!

HuffPost: The Emmys Red Carpet Proved That Some Actors Look Nothing Like Their Characters

by Renee Jacques | Posted: 08/26/2014 11:05 am EDT Updated: 08/26/2014 2:59 pm EDT

Sometimes, it’s hard to imagine that the characters from “Game of Thrones” or “Fargo” aren’t real people living in Westeros or North Dakota. Who hasn’t once wondered if Jon Snow was out there somewhere, protecting all of us from evil forces that be?

But last night at the 2014 Emmy Awards, a few actors threw us for a loop when they hit the red carpet. These stars proved that they not only have serious acting chops, but that their style is top-notch as well.

PhilStar.com: Emmy nomine wears an Oliver Tolentino

Emmy Nominee, Mayim Bialik, wears Olivier Tolentino at the 66th Annual Emmy Awards Photo: WireImage

MANILA, Philippines – Oliver Tolentino (OT) does it again — dress up a nominee, that is, again Mayim Bialik (photo) who wore an OT at the just-concluded Emmy Awards in which she competed for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for The Big Bang Theory. Every year since 2012, Bialik faced stiff competition, this time losing to Allison Janney (for Mom). The Big Bang Theory lost the Best Comedy plum to Modern Family.

It’s Bialik’s second time to wear an Oliver Tolentino to the Emmys. Oliver designed a radiant royal blue embroidered ball gown with sweetheart neckline, featuring pockets and embroidered see-through sleeves. The religious actress is known to adhere to Jewish modesty, so she wears only dresses below the knee and with sleeves. At last year’s Emmys, Bialik wore an emerald green OT gown that made it into international magazines and was discussed favorably by none other than Joan Rivers on Fashion Police.

Best Comedy Series
“The Big Bang Theory” (CBS) When is a billion-dollar mega-hit an “underdog?” In the case of “The Big Bang Theory,” only at the Emmys. Yet the CBS sitcom has only gotten better through the years, and conspicuously becomes the last multi-camera sitcom standing in a field dominated by “Modern Family” in recent years and that has expanded to accommodate “Orange Is the New Black.” Besides, it would be fun to read producer Chuck Lorre’s vanity cards once he thinks you like him, you really like him. – Brian Lowry

Supporting Actress in a Comedy
Mayim Bialik – “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS) As Amy Farrah Fowler, Mayim Bialik delivered some of her best work last season on “The Big Bang Theory.” Bialik endlessly brings a refreshing dynamic to the table as the devoted yet frustrated girlfriend to Jim Parson’s Sheldon Cooper, with performances that highlight the heart and quick wit of her well-loved role. – Shelli Weinstein

Less than a year after Robin Williams appeared on the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast to salute his mentor, Jonathan Winters, producers of the Aug. 25 ceremony are preparing an on-air tribute to the actor-comedian whose suicide on Monday sent shockwaves through the showbiz community.

Details are sparse as the effort is just being pulled together by exec producer Don Mischer and others in the wake of the news that surfaced Monday afternoon.

“Plans for the In Memoriam segment are in discussion. While we are all still coming to terms with this week’s tragic news, we are working to give Robin Williams the proper and meaningful remembrance he so well deserves,” Mischer said in a statement.

Kveller: Mayim Bialik: The Emmy Awards Are Coming & I Need a Dress!

By Mayim Bialik  on Aug 6, 2014 at 1:27 pm

With all of the Israel news this past month, I almost forgot that the Emmys are coming up and that I’m nominated. I knew they were on the horizon, but all of a sudden, they are less than a month away! Eeeeek!

I have decided to do a post a week about the Emmy goings-on to keep you updated about the dress, the jewelry, the shoes, and all of the appropriate insights I may (or may not) have. This is not to detract from the serious events going on in Israel, Syria, Iraq, or anywhere else, but I know there has been interest in the past in my Emmy journey so I will continue to write about it!

It’s very exciting and it’s a huge honor to be nominated. I have waxed poetic here for the past three years about how humbling and unbelievable it is to me–the grandchild of Eastern European immigrants–that I am nominated for the highest award in my industry. Every year I have been nominated has knocked me on my proverbial tuchus–I really can’t believe it.
